2017 FRIEND OF CONSERVATION AWARD Recipients:

  • The Friend of Conservation award, in the Non-Profit category, goes to the Scottsburg High School FFA, nominated by the Scott County Soil & Water Conservation DistrictThis group has been very active and an essential support of the SWCD.  They participate on the SWCD board as Associates, provide outreach opportunities for the SWCD, and volunteer support during SWCD activities.
  • The Friend of Conservation award in the Organization category goes to Ceres Solutions Cooperative.They were nominated by the Benton County Soil and Water Conservation District. Ceres Solutions Cooperative is a 100% farmer-owned business located in Crawfordsville, Indiana. They are working directly with a Regional Conservation Partnership Program on a plan to improve water quality in the Big Pine Creek Watershed. They have provided support in working with landowners, operators; hosting events; producing publications and more!
  • The Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District nominated the Friend of Conservation Award recipient in the Individual category. Tim McConaha has earned the nickname “Ride-Along Tim” among the staff and supervisors at the Wayne County SWCD due to his offering to “ride along” whenever assistance is needed.  Among Tim’s many efforts to promote the SWCD and conservation, he has offered his fields for soil judging practice for local FFA groups. He is a huge supporter of Conservation Days, the District Tree Fundraiser, and solid waste district collection. His servant leadership, such as being an SWCD Board Chairman, has been essential in the community.
